What’s an alternative thing to use instead of this? That will be cheaper and go a longer way

I would of used low tack masking tape both sides so the over spilled foam wouldn't stick to the metal and saves scratching the fuck out of it to remove later.

Not a professional job by any stretch — best approach is use non-expanding foam. DO NOT USE THE EXPANDING FOAM as it will push up on metal. The 3M product is expensive, difficult to work with — when applying the non-expanding foam use tape to keep the foam from spilling out the sides (above is a total mess, real joke, ROFL). Apply tape to the back and front seams of the existing metal (to keep the foam INPLACE), then cut small "portals" in the tape where you insert the non-expanding foam's straw / tip.

In the past I've used one part Seam sealer for adhering the door skin to the reinforcement bar. Works well and it dosent become super rigid. I will have to ask Robbins for tube of this to give it a shot.

Gorilla glue has something out that is similar it is water weather proof it looks like liquid when you first put it on then it exspans 3x's and looks like it turn into foam.

Mon that is why I stop buying lock tight, and rattle can spray paint seems like every time I go to use I either dried up in the bottle after one use or the paint loses its air in the can. I say use the paint right away don't let it sit on the shelf.

It holds moisture. We had a house they did this to and we had to remove the blocks and dig it out it was rotting the carpets inside. Capillary action….. can't beat nature. Not good for anything but the quick sale.

Pete, that factory lid looks more like they used PU Seam sealer rather than foam
