Common engine failures
*************************
blown head gasket
bent piston rods
hydro locked engine due to water getting sucked into engine
rod knock
bearing knock
piston slap
extreme wear and low compression
turbo charger failure
VVTI rattle
Seized engine
Overheating engine
running an engine without oil
sludge build up

If your engine has any of those symptoms, then you have two choices. Rebuild the engine or replace the engine. Rebuilding an engine is often very expensive due to engine parts cost thousands of dollars. So most people go for an engine swap with a used engine. Mind you that if you correctly change oil regularly enough, you can easily avoid engine damages. BTW not replacing the rear main seal while i was at it is a joke πŸ™‚
