There are lots of ways to smooth out a dent. But in the case of our Chevy Caprice, we will be using a stud gun and a slide hammer to undo the damage.

    Couple of quick points.

    Always make sure there's nothing behind the stud, that can catch on fire. Burning some types of foam, can be catastrophic and fatal. All foam, and sealers, should be removed before studs are welded to the panel.
    Too much heat, can cause the stud to burn through the panel. Especially where metal is under the most tension. Stud welding is a skill, and every skill requires practice to make it perfect. These guys are only making it look easy. Because if it were easy, everybody would be doing it.

    You don't have to cut and grind them; what you need to do is bend it back and forth a couple of times and snap it off
