Im okay but the bike has tiny chips/scratches in the paint. Is there a way to fix this? If not what is the best way to treat it so the paint around the chips doesnt mess up anymore than it already is? Thanks chris!

IMO, light scratches like those easier to remove just by rubbing compound on it lightly until the scratches are gone.
Thus you wont need to use sand paper at all.
