Learn how to flush and fill the coolant in your car or truck. Keep your radiator, heater core, and engine clean. Flushing your coolant is good for the cooling system to prevent rust and to prevent your car from overheating.
First you drain the old coolant from the radiator, then you fill it with distilled water and coolant flush chemical. Then you run the car. Then you drain the water from the radiator and fill it with 50/50 antifreeze.

decent video. just make sure temps will stay above 32F if you won't be running and mixing fluids in car before temps drop (say you have to let it cool first after flushing and driving with distiled water). if temps drop and you have straight water in the engine, you could crack it. so give enuff time to finish job, the flush crap is not too great, if you have those problems, change your radiator, heater core and all hoses, because something in there is very sick, the radiator fins have started to clog and will crack soon. I've often done a flush with plain water, once or twice on fluid that dirty, but not best, and you may end up with overheating in summer, or a leak any time of year as the crud builds up and rusts through /corrodes radiator tubes, then you have to change the radiator and it's not on your schedule.

Do you have to remove the thermostat when doing the flush?

Very informative video Chris but you forgot to mention to remove the radiator cap when you first drain the old coolant for the same reason you pointed out when you drained the flush and water.

What about the antifreeze in the engine block

So it's safe to say that the same amount of distilled water that you add when flushing the radiator is the same amount of coolant you should add after flushing?

I really love the part where the engine was started to ensure that the system contained no coolant!!
    mmmmmmm!
