I''m currently trying this outside so its not in a climate controlled environment (~30C), but for me, I needed longer than 2 hours before I wet sanded and cleaned the paint chip before applying the clear coat! I tried at the 2 hour mark and wet sanding was okay but when i used an ipa it took the paint off and I have to reapply a couple coats. Currently waiting longer as we speak for paint to dry!
Bro u snapped nice work
I see all the comments about, "this won't work with metallic paint". The key with metallics is to use as little color as possible just enough for coverage but not enough to build above the surface, so that you don't actually sand the color…it sits below the surface. Then build up your clear for sanding. Sure, the repaired area might be a little more noticeable than with a solid color, but it'll be a heck of a lot better than looking at a rusty area. Patience is the key. If you got a hood full of rock chips then you're probably better off repainting the hood but I think this method would work well for 10 chips or less. This is definitely the best paint chip video on YouTube.
nice
Old school paper matches are also great for applying paint to small areas
some CLR gets the rust out pretty well
nice job
Only thing that is preventing me from doing this is the major cringe from putting sandpaper to my car 🤮
Love the precision you’ve demonstrated in this video. You’re amazing! 👍
This is the most useful video. Thank you
