Would a line laser be more ideal?

If you need to move the tire 1/2 inch, you loosen the nut and loosen it OUT 1/2 inch away from the tie rod end, then as you turn the rod until that nut HITS the tie rod end, then your done.

    I beg to differ.
You want the string to JUST touch both the front and back of the rear tire side walls, then measure the difference between the back side wall of the front tire, and the front. This ensures proper tracking between the front and rear. The difference in the front should be between 1/16th " to 1/8 th" compared to the rear of the front tire.. Check and record both sides before any adjusting. You split the difference between right and left when you adjust the tie rods for toe in of each side, with your steering wheel straight.

So after changing all of my front end parts on my car my steering wheel is waaay off to the right. Do I turn driver side inner rod counter or clockwise to push the wheel back left?

Good job on the video. I use a level with a laser instead of the string.
