A Toyota Master Diagnostic Technician explains key maintenance items to ensure your journey to high mileage doesn’t involve Major Repairs and headaches.

So How to make your Toyota Last Over 300k Miles without major repairs? Well that’s a secret that Toyota owners don’t often share but it has a lot to do with maintenance and understanding why things are done the way they are!

In this video I will share with you some of the key maintenance items that are typically looked over which make owners wonder why their Toyota didn’t last as long as they’ve hoped for.

We’ll start with engine oil and the heavily debated 10k miles oil changes. I’ll explain why it’s important to change it by time as well.

Then we’ll move over to transmission fluid replacements which is another heavily debated subject. I’ll explain why replacing the transmission fluid too late is not good and equally replacing it too often is also not good.

I’ll also cover some additional fluid and component maintenance like the differential fluid, transfer case fluid, power steering fluid, brake fluid and spark plugs.

Lastly I will cover some general owner information.

I did not hear anything about tuning the engine or replacing the air filter.

If you do synthetic 6mo oil change is super overkill,. I actually at one point went 18K miles before changing Mobile 1 in my V6, no issue. The original can (yes can) of Mobile 1 mail order stated 25K change on the oil can. You can easily extend synthetic to a year or more. Rest of your advice is solid. 205K and running great. Been using mobile 1 in all my cars including a Mustang LX 5.0 back in 1989.

My 2007 Toyota Camry sits in my garage most of the time. I maybe put 2000 miles a year if that on it. What should I do for Maintenace on it?

Follow strictly the TOYOTA car manual on oil change interval and use the recomended oil NOT any other interval or recomendation.
