Trying to fix some chips right now (damn silver metallic). Problem is, millimeter or 2 of clear coat around them is also gone. Should i put paint on the border also? Since when i sand with 2000, i see white "frame" of clear coat, and it is ruining whole magic 🙁

Doesn't the clear coat come off by sanding the paint down? The only coating would be the wax now? I'm a newbie so I'm just asking. Thanks 🙂

I followed the video and the chips matched perfectly. Now, with silver paint that was tough.
Now my problem is as soon as I started polishing the hood all the filled paint chips turned ato dark grey.
The chips are smooth – No high spots – No low spots – just dark grey instead of silver.
    Please Help!
    Do I start over?

Hi friend, my two month old car has deep scratches and a big chip on the rear bumper. The bumper is plastic. Any suggestions on how to fix it without taking it to a paint shop?

Won’t the wax gradually wear off and you’ll have to keep reapplying it to keep covering the dull spot?

I have a 2011 Honda Element , repaired some chips on my rear rubber fender with this method and it worked great ! I had spotty dark paint till I hit it with the Mother's polish. Beyond my understand how it works if your not going thru the clear coat.
