I bought a litre of MEK to repair a cracked abs fender. I wanted to test how good is the MEK using a few scraps of abs from my 3d printing. I opened the bottle and a little bit of MEK got onto my finger. It felt like acetone so I let it dry up on my skin. I detected the smell of MEK vapor and immediately tried to cough it out . After testing for about 20mins I washed my hands. Does this mean some harm has been done to my body? I am kinda worried now and unlikely to try to repair the fender . I saw this video after the fact.

MEK makes a hell of a solvent cleaner. However as many have said it has health issues related to it. Years ago I used it to clean steel marking wheels used to stripe wire. I would get that stuff on my hands daily for years. In fact at the end of the day I would wash my hands in a bowl of MEK to get the ink off. It worked exceptionally well. One thing a lot of people don't know about MEK is it burns fast and hotter than a blue flame. It burns clear, no color, so you never know when it catches fire so don't take any chances around ignition sources.

Thank you sooo much for this video. The responses from viewers made this video special to me. We all need to be informed of dangers while using off the shelf chemicals. Thank you to all the responders out there. The ones I read where polite and informative. Who would have thought that something you can buy at your local hardware store could be so dangerous? We all have to learn from each other and look out for each other. That's what makes Youtube so valuable. Good video. Good Safety response from the viewers, and lessons learned for everyone. Win Win!
