Learn how to apply a ceramic coating to your car! In this video, I show you all the steps needed to properly prepare your car’s paint and how to protect your paint with ceramic coatings.

Ceramic coatings are a form of paint protection, like carnauba waxes and paint sealants, but they have better durability. Carnauba waxes typically last 2-3 months and synthetic paint sealants last 5-6 months on average. Consumer level ceramic coatings last 1 to 2 years if well maintained. Professional grade coatings can last upwards of 2 years, all the way up to 7 years.

Ceramic coatings are highly hydrophobic, meaning they repel water extremely well. Ceramic coatings also have self-cleaning properties, meaning your paint will keep itself clean of dirt, much more than traditional waxes or sealants. They also add a lot of gloss to your car’s paint.

Here’s a recap of the main advantages of ceramic coatings:
– extreme durability (1 to 2 years for commercial versions)
– amazing gloss
– extremely hydrophobic, so water beads and sheets off the paint
– self-cleaning properties make the car easier to wash
– UV protection

Ceramic coatings are also known as glass coatings and nano coatings. They pretty much are mean the same thing, as the main active component in them is silica (SiO2) which forms a glass layer on your car’s paint, giving it protection and gloss.

For the purposes of this video, I will apply what I believe to be one of the best ceramic coatings (one of the best glass coatings) available to the public, the CarPro CQuartz UK Edition on my own BMW 435i xDrive Gran Coupe M Sport. Gyeon Quartz also make a great ceramic coating in the form of their Mohs coating. Both products are easy to apply, easy to remove.

If you follow the steps in this video carefully, you’ll learn how to apply a ceramic coating to your car and you’ll protect your paint with ceramic coatings.

What is the complete list of ingredients used inside the bottle
and is there an activation temperature range?
Is it just the Si02 and a particular soluble solution?
Because you can buy the Si02 for a cheap price, and i'd love to experiement with it.

Very nice, but to much work for me, I'd rather spin a wrench then clean a car, great video though.

Thank you. Does ceramic flex as car paint does ?

How many layers of the ceramic coating did you use? And if I layer it up would it extend the years that it can last?

Hey pan, how do you know that it flashes? Like does it change colors?

Hey Pan, can I use this on my dinner plates? I don’t have a dish washer….

Hi Pan, excellent video! I have a question. I recently did a paint correction on my car, decontaminated, clay bar, and then applied a carnuaba wax. I have decided that I would rather have a ceramic coating-CarPro CKUK 3.0. What is the proper way to remove the carnuaba wax? Thanks Howard.

PAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN! New subscriber (and fellow Canuck) and absolutely hooked on your channel now!!

Just a few questions if you don't mind:
    1) If working a 2×2 area, how often are you adding lines of CQuartz to the micro suede to keep an even application?
    2) How often do you switch to a new micro suede applicator, every 2-3 panels?
    3) I realize the microfiber towel to level the product becomes garbage. Are you using a fresh area of the towel and once all fresh areas have been used it's thrown away? So you would toss the towel every few panels, OR can you use the towel until the entire car is done (re-using areas of the towel) and it's garbage at that point?

Thanks for all of the high quality content and can't wait for more videos! Cheers
