In today’s video, I address one of the questions that I get most frequently: “How did you start your business” ??

I also respond to Humble Mechanic’s recent video all about marketing a Mobile Mechanic business: where you can probably get much better information than I have to offer here.

Was 2 minutes in and realized you have such an awesome and off the wall personality lol. Then I found out you were only like an hour and a half away 😂. Well maybe I'll luck out and bump into ya one day!

Faye, You strike me as one cool person. The rest is TL/DR. I'm a retired plumber, yeah I'm old, so what. I have taught plumbing apprentices and have been a self employed plumber. Here in Indiana, plumbers have to take a four year apprenticeship, which includes classes. Now these fellows have worked all day and are tired, so they aren't all that engaged in the various things that the instructor wants to help them learn. It's one of the greatest experiences when you as instructor realize, this fellow has grasped what it is that you want them to learn. Note: It would be better if the were more females in the plumbing trade, but at least here in Indiana it's hard to find anyone who wants to be a plumber, let alone females. As for self-employment, it has both good and bad aspects, but so does working for a business. I was teaching apprentices while I was the Plumbing Inspector for a Municipal government, which is why I had the time and energy to teach. My experience is that working for a government entity is even more frustrating then working for a private company.

Is Boston in your service area? Really hard to find an enthusiastic and trustworthy mechanic. For the record, I know Boston clearly is a thousand miles outside Faye’s business zone, so nobody needs to tell me that she’s in Texas. 😆
