If you hear a ticking noise in your 5.4, or anything else wrong; simple solution: Put a 4.6 in it or get another vehicle.

Why would anyone pay $7,000 to fix one?
Video is a little old but I figure it can't hurt to ask, I've got a 2007 Mustang 3v 4.6 and it makes a ticking sound from the passenger head, I figure its the common phaser tick, I had the valve cover off and didn't see any wear on the cam but now I feel the need to pull the cover again and double check myself, is this a common issue on the 4.6 as well or just the 5.4??

You can tell they don’t take care of it in the first place. That thing is filthy inside
You say $4 but its not really a $4 part, or should I say job. In addition, you don't replace just the noisy one. You replace them all so its hundreds of dollars repair. Still much better than allowing the valve to drop and take out the rotating assembly. I'm more entertained by the fact whomever was driving this car must be deaf because the noise it was making just before it locked up must have been epic.

I'm contemplating the amount of torque that was applied to this engine in order to smash it to bits. I'd imagine the engine block is smashed to pieces.
