just get a used engine.. with low miles… your labour should be around $2,000 $2,500 tops engine around $ 2,000 used with low miles and a 5 year warranty or 60,000

It's amazing that I got 280,000 mi out of my 06 3 valve. Factory timing set and all. It only took three sets of manifolds 😂
This happened to me with my 1975 olds in the Rocket 350 the skirt of the piston sheared off the piston and the connecting rod came up and shattered the rest of it. Had to replace the whole engine. I tried to rebuild it but had another piston shatter
i have a 2006 expedition with a broken cam phaser. started out as a ticking. the sharp tick. on bank 1. then a slight misfire. then a more frequent misfire. no check engine light. then it suddenly developed head gasket-like symptoms. finally gave me PO340, PO344, PO352, P2195, P2196, P2198.
the oil looked fine. no air coming up into the coolant reservoir. the compression test showed zero on cylinders 1 and 4. half-ass compression on 2 and 3. the bank 2 side had good numbers all the way down. removed the bank 1 valve cover and saw the broken phaser. the chain was not even on the sprocket anymore. on cylinder # 3, there was a cam follower which had slipped off the top of the valve stem and was sitting nearby, grinding on the forward intake cam lobe. i havent opened the bank 2 valve cover or the timing cover yet. i will also open up the oil pan and inspect its contents as well.
Is that also an issue with the 2v 5.4?
