There is an old sayin’, “Some times you get the bear and sometimes the bear get’s you.” In the case ogf this van the bear got the owner. He and a friend attempted to DIY their head gaskets on this 2004 Honda Odyssey and unfortunately the crank gear has two marks on. Some of you know where I am going with this…. -Enjoy!

8k rpm for 2 min will straighten those valves right out.
Guys, please don't lump all DIY'ers in the same category. I do a fair bit of work on my cars myself. Granted, I used to work on helicopters in the Navy, and work as a journeyman millwright (essentially a cross between industrial maintenance mechanic and industrial machine installation for those that don't know), but I know when I need to reference some source material such as Haynes, Chiltons, etc. When I had my last car, 03 Park Avenue, it was having transmission troubles. Though due to the nature of my job, I frequently get calls that require me to work in another state, sometimes on a next day notice. Well, I pulled the car into the garage Friday afternoon, and it drove out on its own power Sunday night. Granted there was some issues during that installation but were not my fault. As a couple friends did the damage when I had to leave to sign house paperwork for our real estate agent. Prior to this transmission swap, the farthest I had been into any car for repair was a fuel pump that had an access panel in the trunk in my wifes old Regal GS. This car was easier and faster to do the fuel pump than it was to do plugs and plug wires. Either way, I did the trans swap with no lift, just two jack stands, and a regular floor jack. Though I didn't drive that car to work monday morning as I didn't quite trust it 5 hours from home in the winter, but I still got the job done.
this is the perfect example of what happens when u take ur car to a backyard mechanic..hope this customer learned his lesson to take it to a professional technician..keep up the good work brother I've been there I've had cars come to me and I be like what in God's name this bootleg mechanic this to this car..
Couldnt you narrow down which cylinders are leaking on your scan tool? Check misfire counts? We never had a pico at any of the shops
its agenda 21 it turned the ecm off so you have to take the bus or use you bike
When I was a lad first can belt I changed got it out a few teeth and bent a valve learnt my lesson the hard way had to take the head off in the snow 🙂
I thought at some point we would be watching you eat some pico de gallo
I had to change the timing belt on a Focus Zetec motor. I got the alignment tools/set for it. Being a Non-interference motor, I could crank it without potentially damaging valves if I did a rookie mistake. I had success in that case.
Hey Eric, can jet fuel melt steel beans?
Hi !
My question is to do a compression test with a compression tester
Do I have to open the throttle on this engine??
My problem is this unit 2003 Honda pilot was stop for 4 years
Guy stopped for ignition cylinder lock.
I fixed but engine turned a little fast.
I do a comp test with the throttle open
And #4&5 the reading was110/117200 on #6 with
Throttle close. Excuse me but I'm learning don't have
Problem on asking I learn by doing so.
Thanks:)
