I love that there's more electric vehicles coming out and I love that there's competition. But realistically you can't out "truck" a Ford. I don't care what's on paper Ford just knows trucks. And don't forget truck buyers are some of the most loyal customers on the planet which bodes well for the Ford. Ford will have the manufacturing advantage and the big thing that nobody's talked about is the distribution network. I'm an old Houston boy who moved to the country in Virginia and every town in between has a Ford dealership. The cybertruck is a cool novelty and will probably find a niche market but real truck buyers will go Ford. And the Ford company won't have real truck competition in the electric market until GM or Dodge put out something I say that not because I think they're better than Ford, but just because they're bigger than Tesla.
Despite the impressive reported payload or towing capacities, in the end the success of electric trucks will be dependent upon their actual range once loaded up or when hauling a trailer (or both) or in cold weather. If your range drops in half towing a trailer or carrying a camper, no one is going to tolerate long charging times on a trip vs a 10 minute fill up. We’ll learn soon enough when these are put to the test in the real world.
The woman driving her son to kindergarten could have used a bulletproof truck.

I would get the Ford F-150. Parts would be widely available compared to the Cyber Truck, since Tesla doesn't share any information on their vehicles or allows anyone to perform maintenance on them. The Lightning would still be a F-150 minus the combustion power. You could still change your own tire! The Lightning is also more affordable and I assume more shops will be able to work on it since Ford doesn't keep everything to themselves like Tesla. Ford just makes more sense here.
The Cybertruck will look great on Mars. Back on Earth, give me the F-150 Lightning.
5:06 Looks like my middle school CAD project, back when I didn't know what the hell I was doing.
F150 For sure. Ford knows how to make trucks the quality will at least be there .
The Ford. Fit and finish on any Tesla vehicle is cringe-worthy. And they never deliver what they promise in anything like the time frame they themselves lay out. I know a couple of people who bought Tesla's early and both got rid of them. Is this a guarantee the Cybertruck will be a lemon? No. Nor is it gospel the Lightning will be better. Going by history my money's on the Ford. But I ain't buying the first generation of either. By the time both have been out a couple of years, a choice will be much easier. And closer to right.
