My corolla 2019 has a CVT and u could but if in b mode which will keep the revs high and it’ll engine brake

I live in Maine and my 2014 Accord with a CVT has 158,000 miles. No issues.

My Toyota Sienna was the same in Tennessee last week. I had to switch into stick shift mode in the mountains. Both of my in laws Honda Odyssey’s ran perfect in the mountains.

Scotty, what would you do if all of japan was destroyed in WW2?

Scottie ford probably didnt program this car for engine breaking. My 2011 maxima starts engine breaking as soon as it starts coasting. This is not true for all CVTS!!! I love the ford fusion but you probably was driving the hybrid version because the regular one has the 6 speed. Im sure ford has a reason for not programing this to engine break but CVTS DO ENGINE BREAK!!!!!!! I LOVE YOUR CONTENT JUST WANTED TO SHARE MY EXPERIENCES. ALOT Of PEOPLE ARE SAYING THE SAME THING I AM. ITS ALL IN THE SOFTWARE. By the way CVTS ARE NOT ALL THAT BAD THE ARE ALWAYS IN THE PERFECT RATIO FOR CLIMBING AN DESCENDING I LOVE MY MAX!!!!!!!! CAR IS FAST AN NEVER HAD PROBLEMS WITH CVT TRANSMISSION. MY EXPERIENCE.

No, they all don't freewheel Scotty. Mine from 2013 will engine brake unless I have my foot on the gas.

And for frick sake. Continuously Variable Transmission Transmission!!

Maybe FORDS CVT transmissions freewheel buy my Hondas and Nissan dont.

  8. D Nice

They suck for when you have to stop real quick then get back to speed, the cvt doesn’t react well.
Stick is going bye bye pretty much so cvt unfortunately is gonna be here to stay.

Hey Scotty! Thanks for all your helpful knowledge for us consumers! Quick question: I'm graduating college this upcoming year and I've got some money saved away. I'm wondering if I should upgrade from my 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix with 175k miles. Rebuilt the transmission 2 years ago and replaced the cat last fall. Looking for something under $8k. Do you have any suggestions?

    Thanks again!

I live in Denver I own a 2012 Toyota Camry hybrid with an ECVT transmission and in the past have owned a 2010 Toyota Prius all so with ECVT transmission both transmission has what’s called B mold It for shifting the transmission in to a lower gear ratio for going down long hills.
