Its only the 1 speed cvt's that 'freewheel'….most have pre-set gears (and manual options) that can hold the cars speed when going downhill.
That cracked me up… a Rav 4 in a storm… Those things were the most notorious car for rolling. They were so bad, all the
car rental firms dropped them from their fleets after so many fatal crashes, usually when simply overtaking and performing any slalom maneuver
at speed. They became affectionately known as the Toyota 'flipover four' by our accident rescue crew, or 'Rolls At Velocity <4'.
I recently witnessed one flip in front of me with a girl driving it on a rain soaked road, it hit nothing, just stepped the rear out in a bend and over it went…
Fortunately there are few left on the road here…
