When I was a teen my friends parents had a Saab turbo. Some of the best driving experience I remember.

That's an awesome restoration. I didn't know anything about SAAB until now. If one ever fell in my lap, I could appreciate it so much more now that I am better educated.
I used to think they were good strong cars as friend's parents owned one and raved about it. However, after witnessing a fatal car accident involving a 900, it became apparent that they have a serious design flaw where the A pillar completely collapses crushing the front seat occupants with the entire engine and front end. I would recommend watching the ENCAP test for this car before considering buying one. They achieved an unenviable position in the top 10 worst car design's for crash safety for that decade of production.
Saab automobiles also had no connection to the aircraft division sharing the same name, apart from marketing the name. Great Saabing, just don't ever get into an accident..
