More accurately, the engineers and designers at Ford. Same for all car manufacturers. They all do things that make repair difficult as though car will last forever and never need repairs.
You don't need to pull all that off. One or 2 screws and slip your hand in and feel it. Done it myself easy peasy. Leave the wheel on too. Ford are cheap and cheerful if you want a Mercedes buy one.

Lol what do you have to say about Exxon Valdez I mean BMWs Scotty with a Ridiculous amount of fragile plastic in the power barn? Let's run coolant to the alternator and run oil through the brackets so a $1 seal costs $500 to replace lol.
Had a 2000 Ford focus air condition evaporator failed after seven years ,Ford's quality is poor to say the least. My 06 Cadillac srx air conditioning lasted all of fifteen years sold it with original factory air working great.

I love my old Ranger but when they sued the Trump administration for their "right" to import Chinese parts without paying tariffs I was done with them. Neither would I buy a Government Motors or Fiat . . . sorry, Chrysler vehicle, even though in past we've owned Ford, Chevrolet, Chrysler and AMC. Sadly, although my nation led the world in automotive technology, I'm down to buying only Japanese vehicles. In 2017 we bought our first, a Subaru Forester, and have never looked back.
