The government is bought and paid for by billionaires and corporations. They are extremely efficient and effective in serving their interests. Anything that would benefit the average person they are paid to be incompetent in. Pretty simple.

What's unfortunate is that any money that's not taxed is printed, which is worse. One way or another, even if the government doesn't tax, they will get your money, and that is through the theft of your purchasing power. People need to understand that the government is going to get bigger no matter what, the only question is how do we pay for it. The answer is not inflation and money printing. Let's tax just so people can know the real cost of their government because, with inflation, people can't tell.
To be fair Britain's VAT is not unlike the US sales tax and they don't have to tip everyone.
Scotty, there is a reason why California is known as The People's Democratic Republic just like North Korea. Hell at least North Korea can keep their electricity grid on longer than California.
