IMO when repairs on a car cost more than 1/2 or 1/3 of the value of the car, it might be time to say good bye, unless it's a rare card or classic car. But for daily drivers, I'd say about 1/2 the value is the most I would dump into a vehicle, but that also depends on the condition of the vehicle and how long I plan to keep it. You also have to look at how much the vehicle is worth in good working condition (ie. with the work done). In the case of my truck, $7000 as is with bad lifters. But if I fix them for $3,000, then I can get about $13k-$14k for it. I would also loook at the shorter term repairs (next 1-3 years) if you are considering repairing it and keeping a car. My truck is getting to the point where it will start costing a lot to maintain it so I've decided to just fix it, sell it and move on to something else (which I've already purcahsed anyway… a Toyota of course).

WEll I wouild say that 1 quart every 1000 miles is a lot, even for an older car, but oil is cheap and as long as it won't have any long-term ill effects (like clog your cats) then it's by far cheaper to just keep dumping oil into it. $10 a month versus a car payment.

You need a MIC foam piece to get that crackling background noise down

Went off to college in Baltimore from the west coast. My dad got me a 02 Highlander. Graduated and went to work in nyc. The car took punishing ny winters, multiple trips to VT and Toronto ski resorts and thousands of potholes and salt and stop and go traffic. Sometimes the car would stay in the parking lot for several weeks at a time. 212k miles and 0 problems. Sold it a few years ago.

Hey Scotty just changed out my o2 sensor that I got a reading from autozone and the check engine light still comes off and on? Is it ok to drive ? Did the device misread the error? 2003 Corolla CE

You only buy Toyota's because you're old and you want a basic car with very limited options that is comfortable on the road for old people.. Other than that nothing
