I have 2016 Prius with only 68K. no issues other than the phone connecting to the system and calls dropping. Now I am on a list for a Rav 4 Prime which get 42 miles on electric before gas kicks in

My experience, admittedly in a 2nd gen prius rather than the one the video focusses on, is that the symptoms he described likely are due to a need to replace the spark plugs in the ICE (internal combustion engine). My guess is that they weren't replaced around 100,000, so now it's time. Also, I've found that the Toyota accessory (12 volt) battery is unbelievably good. I've had a short somewhere and the battery was periodically drained, even in the winter, but always charged back up just fine (I have a battery tester similar to the one in the video). Also, I've had a prius that sat from for a few years (not my fault!), with the battery draining also periodically, and it too continued to work just fine after being recharged. Lastly, I'm not convinced that it is the hybrid battery that is responsible for restarting the engine after it turns off, though I certainly could be wrong about that.

Scotty the battery’s recharge when you cruise with your foot off the accelerator, as long as your pressing down on the accelerator, the hybrid battery will not recharge on the drive. So actually highway driving is the best way to recharge the main battery remember I’m the guy that worked at toyota 15 yrs lol own nothing but toyota Lexus vehicles. But yah I came across one 12’ Prius that jolted in park long story to explain but it rarely happens it’s when the gas engine transfers to the hybrid part of transmission.

You didn't clean the battery cooling filter.

The only complaint about the Prius, as a former Uber driver 12 hrs in the seat is not a great experience.

I love ya Scotty…you’re a veteran who says that just cuz it’s built in the USA doesn’t mean better quality

Why this man don't like hybrid cars?

  8. John Pollard

Why does it Suck. – Perhaps it had a new auxiliary battery fitted and the battery is the wrong type. – A standard traction auxiliary battery is not compatible. – Seems you found nothing wrong with the car , so why all the crap !

  9. Denizen Of Clown World

So, you didn't/couldn't fix the problem and are making excuses. Awesome mechanic. lol

How do you know if a car is made and built in Japan, or if it’s made and built in the USA
