The Achates opposed piston diesel and gasoline engine is more exciting than an EV. Hitched to a hybrid system, the Achates engine becomes a generator and will extend range and mpg by at least 37 mpg (gasoline, F-150) and 42 mpg (diesel, F-150). Hopefully, after the Advanced Combat Engine testing is finished around 2024, the civilian market will embrace this engine.
i wouldn't mind the government paying to convert my truck into a hybrid, but i sure as hell will not own a vehicle 2010 or newer with all the potential electrical issues, sensor replacements, module malfunctions, etc.
I'll just hold out for solar radiation to hit the Earth and knock out all of our electrical grids and components. Then I'll buy one for next to nothing. 😁
And all will have to carry a gas-powered electric generator for when it dies.
How long does it take for these EV to get a full charge?

I can't see gasoline powered trucks as becoming illegal to drive on the roads but I think you're saying that auto makers will no longer be able to produce gasoline powered trucks in the near future. Anyway, I'm not interested in trucks but I have to say that I'm impressed with the technology. But I'm not impressed with the price tags. I'm more interested in SUVs and sportscars. But even the E-Mustang is way outside of my price range. As long as they keep making parts for my gasoline powered vehicles I'll keep driving them. Besides, I think we're a long way off before these EV's become popular and a long ways off from long range vehicles and sufficient recharging stations and power sources to provide power to these charging stations (assuming that that they're serious about eliminating fossil fueled power stations). People are quickly going to find out that EVs aren't a panacea.
