I'm starting to be happy about saving for an old 5th gen celica gti LOL seriously, I hope people/repair companies/goverments start pushing for repairability, availability and reusability, specially in a industry that has a huge mark on our life and world, going electric doesnt help if every 5/10/15 years you have to change your car

I’m so glad I bought my Tacoma a year ago. I shouldn’t have to visit a repair shop for quite a long time

My Toyota stealership gave me a large bill for a simple brake job. But the pads wore down really fast, and the rotors rusted super fast 😡 Once bitten twice shy. Luckily I've found a competent and honest garage to fix my cars 😀😄

Corporate runs by republicans, which they forced you to buy the overprice part and have it repair which costs more than car itself at the stealership. Might as well stick to older car which is much easier to work with.

Forget about becoming a dealer mechanic.
Here in Canada, that's turning into an almost mindless job: Diagnose drivability issues, replace parts, busting tires, what else. Most dealers source out most electrical issues, wind leaks and noises, transmissions, engine rebuilds etc. etc. No one fixes anything anymore.
No, the future is in electronics; Automotive electronics if you will. Learn to fix some of these components that they are throwing away, that's where the money is. Attention Snowflakes: You'll hardly get your hands dirty.

You will own nothing. You will eat Bugs and you will be happy. Deal with it! Forget the millions that died for your freedoms. Bahhh they mean nodda.

The flat rate system in flawed. It incentivizes rushing & cutting corners.
Say for example a technician has 5 jobs lined up for their shift & that the total amount of repair time allotted for those tasks is 6.5 hours.
Maybe 4 of the 5 jobs were successfully completed within in the expected timeframe, but the 5th one doesn't go as planned. Maybe the vehicle comes from the rustbelt & all the fasteners are rusted solid & in takes two hours longer to complete the job. Now that tech may be forced to complete that repair for free, even though the shop will still get paid either way. This type of scenario is not uncommon& it can turn otherwise competent workers into hacks.

I don't have a place and the tools to be able to work on my own car. I am also not experienced at doing this type of work. I found the dealer of my car will sell me the parts. I have done some small repairs myself where I can use basic tools that I have. I have some friends who have a high end car and the dealer does not like selling parts for him to do his own repairs. There are a small number of car makers who outright refuse to sell parts for independent servicing.
