What's happening is the contracts are coming to an end so alot of the tools are no longer protected by patent. For example the Doyle line of tools are matco tools

People like to clown on Harbor Freight but you can't deny that their customer service and warranty feels so similar to how SEARS did it back in the day with Craftsman

    Good on you, Harbor Freight.

we have been useing pittsburg pro series ratchets/sockets for years in my shop,we now have been buying ICON aswell,,we luv "em,,,gave up on snapon due to the expense and the fact they wont warranty without receipt,

Kudos to Harbor Freight! I just hope they hold true to their word over the long haul. All the previous tool companies (S-K, Snap-On, Craftsman etc) that I paid the extra money to buy (because they offered a Lifetime Guarantee!!) decided to change their mind. They all suck.

Because they lied and screwed me over, a few years ago I started buying Tektron ratchets through Amazon. So far none have broken, not even the 1/4" that gets too much use. Their 3/8" swivel head is nice. Rubber grip and you can tighten the head so it doesn't lose position.

There's a HF near me and I will be looking into ICON now. Thanks for the video review!

Good review, good video. Yes Snap On are good tools. But yes the warranty deal with Snap On sucks. I'm an industrial mechanic & I've had problems with Snap On on some of the tools I've got through them. They wouldn't warranty them out for me. But yet I turn around & ask 1 of the other mechanics I work with to go see if the snap on truck guy would warranty my tool if they took it out with them & the truck guy warranties the tool & they bring it back to me. But it's all about who u know basically I guess or who is all buddy, buddy with the Snap On person. I don't have any of the Icon ratchets. I've got the Icon non slip wrenches and their great. Another tool company that is great & backs their lifetime warranty up without any problems is Tekton Tools. With Tekton all u do is take a pic of the broken tool & send it to them & u have the tool sent to u in a day & u don't send anything back to them. U basically do whatever with the broken tool. I've got a mixture of tool brands in my toolbox. I've got some Mac & Matco too & their warranty deal is the same way as Snap On.

I hear it said time and time again that you gotta have a good relationship with the driver of your local truck.
I'm sure that's the situation with the people who have no issue.
The convenience and dealer relationship should not be what you're paying for but if you are it should never expire.
It cost the drivers money to warranty a tool, them not doing so may suck but that is the reason why they might not do it.

Great lesson my friend and everyone's friend Pete. Pete I'm thinking about an Eastwood air punch and flange tool. The harbor sells something along the same lines. Have you done a lesson on how to use the air flanger to mount a patch or quarter panel.
