    To be fair, this is what the car brands really want, they want to push people away from smaller cars as smaller cars usually make consumers haggle more for better deals. People buying obnoxiously big cars tend to be those who just want the flashy fancy stuff over having a good deal. Plus smaller cars being popular would mean having to work more on emission requirements. Since the bigger vehicles get their own fuel economy requirements they just want to push people towards those as it saves engineering costs.
