VW Rabbit diesel got 65 MPG in 1975
We have these diesels in the s10 from 2012 here in south america. They are actually an Italian design made by VM motori, but are surprisingly pretty decent, here are known to be almost as reliable as the diesels toyota put in their Hilux
The 2018 f-150 lariat ecoboost does 7L/100km which is better than 35mpg(6.75L/100km)

Really?! Well that's a damn sight better than my '05 Ford Escape XLT; it's kinda thirsty – getting only 17 MPG city/22 MPG highway… A nice little SUV, but I never considered this when buying the vehicle a few weeks ago. 😒
