I doubt that $4,400 car meets many of the U.S. government mandated “safety” standards that make our cars so expensive. I do NOT expect any sub-$5K cars to show up here. If GM was allowed to build and sell a 1956 Chevy right now, they could do so very affordably. But there will be no cheap new cars. Not allowed. Remember the short run of the basic Geo Metro/Chevy Metro/Suzuki Swift? Too cheap and 50 mpg, so it had to go.
We need something that goes 80 out here
