I agree those sensors inside the tire are stupid. You can buy sensors that you screw onto the tire valve, just like you screw the cap on. They radio the tire pressure info to your smarty-phone. You shouldn't have to take the tires completely off the rims, or break the beads on both sides, in order to replace the sensors. It should be enough to break the tire bead on one side, the side where the valve stem is, and then pull out the valve stem with sensor attached. Then seat the bead with compressed air. But yes, you'll have to remove the wheels from the car, which by itself is about 1/2 the labor of putting on new tires. Also, every time you buy new tires it might be a good idea to check the sensors and the battery as long as you have the tires off ther rims, and replace the sensors or the batteries pro-actively, before they go bad.
