It's the department manager's that have the final word on a design, not an Engineer. The Engineer is practical, the manager is all dollars to impress their boss, so that boss can impress their boss. I had a coworker that had a 2012 Focus and his trans blew 3 times before 84,000 miles so he just sold the stupid thing.
