Today we’re fixing the one thing about my AU Falcon that annoyed me the most – the saggy headliner! The plan – remove my existing saggy headlining, strip off all the old material and foam, and then replace it with some new headliner fabric from eBay.

As it turns out, the choice of glue is extremely important here – and whilst I tried my best to select the best product for the job, I didn’t quite hit the mark. Luckily, with a bit of time and patience, things turned out pretty good!

— About MotoringBox —
MotoringBox is an Australian based automotive news website & YouTube channel run independently by Sean McKellar since 2009. I began by covering popular motoring shows like The Grand Tour, Top Gear & Wheeler Dealers – but more recently I’ve started focusing on creating quality content about Australian car culture. I work a day job and publish videos in my spare time, so I’d like to apologise in advance for my slow release schedule! Thank you for your patience and I hope you enjoy my videos.

You need contact cement to glue it

How is it holding up in the Heatwave conditions this month?

Put it in or make a big plastic bag and use your vacuum cleaner to suck air out and it will apply even pressure to hold surfaces together. Saw them do this on B is for build making carbon fibre panels

Thank goodness I drive a 42 year Mercedes, that do not have roof lining problems. But a job well done.

Great video…Did it during lockdown on my BA wagon…used silicone and a little roller and rolled the edges over…tedious…but was quoted $400 for it.. ended up getting the fabric for my wagon and 2 utes for $120 off ebay…and 3 tubes of silicone and done…might try the next one with a notched spreader next time…

Awesome video mate and a job well done….I wonder if there's another brand of glue out there better than the one you used?

As soon as you said you're going to use Quick Grip I said NOO the glue is crap, don't use 3M either. I never let it dry for a week tho, a few days maybe. At first, it sticks but after about 2 or 3 months it fails. I hope you were more successful than me. I have not done the headliner yet only door trims and I now use High-Temperature Contact Adhesive HTA1000 but it needs to be used outside or in a well-ventalated area. From my failed attempts with door trims even with HTA1000 I have not attempted to do a headliner yet but I am going to try one soon on a wagon and I needed to see this so thanks heaps for making this clip.
