Is it ok to use the silicone wd40 for the locks and ignition? I heard the regular wd40 can mess with locks overtime and attract dirt

I used WD-40 in the door lock of my old truck and for a few weeks I couldn't lock or unlock my door. I love Scotty but don't listen to this.
I only ever used graphite in my door locks in my car.
