My brother did his oil changes annually – meaning we only got 1/4 quart out each change. Until one day – gruesome, his engine sounded like it took a dump. Plugged the OBD-2 and VVT solenoid bank 2 failure. Changed both of the solenoids and ran like a champ. This is on his 2004 Mustang GT.

🇬🇧I have had an 1800cc petrol Vauxhall Zafira for thirteen years now. Last year I turned over to using E10 petrol and noticed a gradual increasing problem with low speed acceleration. My service garage of good motor engineers could find nothing intrinsically wrong but after six months of this worsening problem suggested I go back to E5 petrol which is required in the 2000cc model. After just a couple of months the problem began to noticeably ease and now, after a 200 mile run has all but disappeared.
Apparently E10 petrol can cause cause a build up of deposits on the piston heads and cylinders which is detrimental to engine performance and reverting to the original E5 removes this. More expensive now than E10 but in the long run better for the life of an engine and a possible new engine.
Scotty I know I have a lower end car but can you help with any dodge dart problems? I haven’t had any but after 10 years old it’s still going strong!!
Absolutely the best advice, cheap oil and filters aren’t cheap, they will cost you big money, usually at the time you don’t have it!
There was a lady who bought a brand new car. Dealership told she had 3-years of free oil changes. She thought that she had 3-years before the 1st oil change was needed. Engine destroyed at a
the 2-year mark.
Do yourself a favour try either Nulon or penrite synthetic oils if you can get them there Scotty. Used castrol oils prior and was never as good as 2 mentioned.

Always remember oil is cheap, wrecked engines are expensive to replace.
