The problem with changing your own oil is disposal of the old oil. Any suggestions?

  3. Mohamed Sherif

well i have a question for ya, i changed oil two times every time was 9500 km-10000 km , the third time after i changed at 8500 km started the car the oil warning light kept on for about 1-2 minutes, the last two times i changed my oil i was using a cheap oil filter , the copy of the oem and it didn't do that issue, but the last time i used bosh filter , should i be concerned ?

I used to be surprised by folks who NEVER change oil and other vital self maintenance. Now, this generation doesn't even know how to change a tire or drive thru those oil change places. When the motor blows THEY GO BESERK!

I change mine once a year at around 10K with 20K Mobil 1 full synthetic extended performance and matchign filter because my Lexus GX 460 requires that I drop the skid plate to reach the oil filter. I think if it didn't have the skid plate I would maybe increase the frequency.

What cleaner Scotty used to clean throttle body?

New engines are intracate machines. An oil change every 3 or 4 thousand miles will keep it in good shape for a LONG time. Any more is pushing it. Try this… pull out your dip stick and FEEL the oil for grit. How slippery is it ? Examine it when you change the oil. Think…. gravel roads ? Dust ? Smell the oil. Does Is it smell burnt, or does it smell like gas ? Buy good quality synthethic oil and filter. Change them often. It's all just common sense.
