The modification shown in this video was done on a w220 S-class mercedes.

In this video I show you how to repair your Mercedes key fob with a sheet of paper (card stock [less folds], bond stock, or regular printer paper will work)

Mercedes dealership quoted me $500 for a new copied key and also said that more than likely I would have to also change the ESV/ELV (key tumbler/ignition key lock) for an additional $800. Thats a total of $1,300.

Instead, using this method it may only cost you $0.01.

Yes thatโ€™s right only 1 cent.

And for those wondering, the check engine light seen at the end of the video was pertaining to a separate โ€œbank 1, sense 1โ€ issue. ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿคซ

I hope this helps you all with this issue.

Thanks man and I have a lucky find for you. I changed the battery in the key fob and still the key would not turn. Also the trunk release inside the car would not open the trunk so I thought the car battery was dead. New keyfob battery but the door lock buttons would not unlock or lock the doors. I crawled into the trunk by pulling down the seats in the car. I thought maybe there's a latch in the trunk I can pull, but I hit the trunk button on the keyfob while I was in the trunk and everything works now. My mechanic said there is a sensor in the trunk and by getting closer to this sensor the keyfob with a new battery was able to reset. Everything works as normal with no error codes. Time for a quick "Italian Tuneup" up to Malibu on the PCH. Hope this helps!!!!!!!!

Wow. This really works. Thanks a million. FYI this technique will work with regular paper too. I was stuck in parking lot and I used a piece of paper from a bank receipt. I just folded it twice as many times to get it to right thickness. Worked on the first tried.
