A disturbing recent law concerning DIY automotive repair was uncovered and has been going around online. This law concerns Sacramento, but I’m sure there are other places with similar regulations as well and more will spread.

Don’t Believe it? Here is a couple links:

A law is only good if it is vague. It gives government the most control.

Dude suits wrote this. 10 years ago they passed laws in most towns around where I live that made it illegal to park a commercial work van in the street overnight. Some towns even made it illegal to park it in the driveway. Now the suits don't want to see or be bothered by neighbors working on their cars. As for the commercial vehicles in the street, the cops when they see my Astro or other vehicles up on jack stands they ignore my work truck in the street overnight. Yet they also see me working past midnight often trying to get my cars fixed

YouTubers who bring their car to my shop after screwing up a DIY repair get to pay double labor. This is because I first have to figure out what they screwed up, fix it, then diagnose the original problem, and fix it. So DIYers, keep doing your thing. You're putting my kids through college.

That law was written to selectively screw with certain people.

What the f dose The government think this service. Are they trying to make this like Nazi Germany because that’s what it seems like

California is the worst state in the nation, hands down. But no one can stop you from doing what you want to do in your own home if you are smart. The key is to not advertise what you are doing. I do everything on my car and on my house myself. No one around me knows anything because I do it quietly and I don't disturb anyone. There are lot's of bad DIYers out there. Make a mess, make lot's of noise, start projects and never finish them, junk in the yard, have a bunch of noisy friends over to help them change the oil on their car. You know what I mean. Not defending the law at all, just sayin, be smart with what you do. Just look at my channel and you'll see all the stuff I do, and no one complains about it.

Laws that only hurt those with limited money. How dare you try to save money so you can pay your bills.

The intent of this law is to make money by fining people. And the intent of the law is to get people to get rid of their cars and replace them electric. Finally it's just about telling people what they can and can't do…
