Was just watching another Video on this. They are supposed to be Way better in the Cold also which is why i have not bought one. Canada its COLD here like 5 months of the yr lol So ya i want to be able to use my heat and not get stranded because it drains my battery
I don't agree that lithium ion batteries will be obsolete dinosaurs within the lifetime of that vehicle. Man has been refining battery technology for hundreds of years. Just like Moore's law says the power of newer computer processors will slowly plateau over time, the power of batteries is reaching its plateau.
We've known about sodium batteries for a long time. They suffer from poor durability.
Toyota's solid state battery is a notable improvment, but still would not make your current lithium battery car a foolish purchase.
The essence of power is reserve.
The Chinese are putting in a new battery factory in Michigan..lots of salt mines in Michigan..
But don't try getting a job there..they only are going to hire Chinese nationalists.

You are a year late. CATL is now producing the second generation of sodium based batteries. Not researching. Not prototyping. Full production. Here are a few tidbits:
– 1/7th of the total production cost of a lithium equivalent as of February 2023. This is important because lithium prices keeps rising.
– 80% to 90% of the capacity of latest lithium (7th generation?).
– No notable degradation after 5 years.
– No performance variation due to temperature between 70 C and -20 C.
– twice as fast as lithium to charge. (If lithium can charge to 80% in 30mn, sodium can do it in 15mn.) that still means a beefier charger.
Perfect for cars. Less so for small devices. Downside? Not US made. So we won’t see those anytime soon.
Better watch out… the cops will bust you for a-salt in battery!😂
