Wondering how Darren performs car paint chip repair? Despite the many videos or pictures you have seen from paint chip repair kits or companies, car paint chip repair and scratch removal is not as simple or easy as many would have you think.
At least half the battle is understanding the limitations of touch-up paint for cars and being able to manage your customer expectations.
This video was cut from a longer video due to the many questions Darren gets about his car paint touch-up kit. In this case it is Applied Colors. And “no”, Darren does not have a firm opinion as to the best car paint touch-up kit out there. Not if you are going to be doing this as an add on service for your detail business.
If you are a DIYer and looking to fix or repair a chip or multiple chips in your car paint, you can see his link here for his recommendations.

Why don't you just get the exact touch up paint from the GM dealer so you don't have to worry about matching the right color.

great video… I would like to know what kit did you use…
Where can I get that paint book you used?
    Also was the paint universal?

The biggest problem using touch up paint is you won't get an exact match unless the car is like brand new.
Even if the paint looks new it's not, some fading, new fresh paint over older paint will throw it off, even if we try O.E.M or in my case getting it matched for me still a shade off.

In this case I would have removed the paint in a hurry because it's not even close.

Ahh, I'm gonna go head n pitch in my .02.
I am not a professional auto body tech but I play one under a tree at home & for $10 a local body shop supply will mix a 4 oz bottle of PPG paint, including touch up brush made into the cap, from the OEM paint code.
I do not pre buff or attempt to level the edges of the chip at all, only clean with alcohol then apply as many light coats as required to fill the chip slightly proud of the surrounding undamaged surface, then since I have to be in no rush, after two weeks, I use soapy water, 2500 wet / dry and fashion the smallest backing pad needed to sand and keep the entire chip area underneath the paper until the surface is uniform.
Usually at this point, the repair is barely perceptible and after a light hand buffing with polish or light compound, the results have never warranted adding additional clear coat at all.
I suppose if I were to hire out or if time was a critical concern, I would experiment with a touch of hardner / heat gun, ect,
Not trying to be a pr_ck or dismissive of anyone taking the time to try to help other folks, but for what it is or ain't worth, the 15 – 20 repairs I have made using this process have all been on original GM, DODGE, or Toyota factory paint with more than acceptable results that held up well over time and require some effort, even for me to find after a while. Cheers!
