Subsidy dollars and higher prices take a lot of economic activity, which causes pollution, to generate. It may take ten dollars or more of additional economic activity to produce 1 subsidy dollar. I dare you to find this admitted by any electric car proponent. This variable is never included in any co2 assessment.
Electric cars are NOT a scam. The imbeciles that run the Big Auto companies don't WANT to make them viable. They want to sell crap that is overequipped, overpriced, and loaded with too much techno-crap.
Make a solid 3-box chassis, basic running gear, batteries beside Lithium ion, and it doesn't have to go from 0-60 mph in 5 seconds. Nine seconds is more than enough. Make specially made AGM batteries as standard equipment and then some better battery as optional but, safer than Li Ion.
Market the car for LOCAL DRIVING. Make the expectations realistic and the cars will sell to those who can use them. It's just that simple.
