When the Chrysler Corporation built prototype Turbine powered cars in the early 1960s they were able to quiet the noise down to almost nothing. The decided to have them produce some noise. The surviving prototypes that are drivable sound like vacuum cleaners. Jay Leno had a Turbine car built almost from scratch. It’s powered by a Turbine helicopter engine and is so noisy that he has to wear headphones to save his hearing and he didn’t put a radio in it because he would never be able to hear it play over the engine noise.
