Can You Restore A Rusted Car? ” At Home ” – Part 8 – Chop Cut Grind Weld.
This rusted pile of junk is starting to come togeather as we fabricate sheet metal, use our mig welder , start grinding all the welds, and use our cut off wheel to chop out the old rusted metal to make the car all new. It’s a Mercedes Benz nightmare, but someone’s got to do it! We also get a special gift in the mail and open it up!

Best mail time segment on any Youtube channel ever!
I stay away from conversations on the 58 PLymouth facebook group as there is a small group of people who can't stand that I post my progress and they try everything they can say to belittle and disgrace my hard work. The main person involved does not even own a 58 Plymouth so I think it's jealousy. He gets his friends involved and they go way below the belt with insults and have even got me angry enough to start the insults wars back and forth in the past. Finally, I told them I will not respond any more because they get a thrill out of it when I do. I am continuing to restore Christine all on my own and post the progress to youtube.
Triple clear coat your gift to save it for memory's sake.
Hi Pete, When your done restoring this Mercedes Benz it’ll be better than when it rolled off the assembly line. Because you are a perfectionist. I’ve watched you long enough to know that. I’ve been watching this Video Set Series have been very interesting.
Why would anyone send you that? Rude people.
Pete you are showing a lot of weekend warriors the proper way to repair their vintage dream. I can’t comprehend why someone would want to spend that kind of money without having an attachment to it. It seems to be stressing you out quite a bit. I am quite sorry about that. However you provide great motivation and information for regular people to go get it done. Take it easy Pete and get it done man.
Remember Cool Hand Luke ? Some men you just can't reach. So you get what we had here last week, which is the way he wants it… well, he gets it. I don't like it any more than you men…..you have to move to progress payments, were Mr Majestic pays every 500 or 1K dollars worth of work….I did not realize that about the german spot welds….I had a 67 Mustang – unibody, rusted all over. Hours and hours 3 weeks for the front driver floor frame and support, what a PITA…. Dallas Texas, wait, he moved and Covid hit him ? WTH….shake a hand, and go paint a VW
Hi Pete, wouldn't he have been better off having the car dipped to remove all the rust and filler etc so he could've got a better look before he put any more money into it?.
