In this episode of our 1976 Mercedes Benz we go ahead and install the complete front clip of the car, both front aprons and the radiator core support. It’s welding time using a mig welder and making sure this unibody car is all in tact for safety and security.

What is mig welding
MIG—i.e., metal inert gas—welding is generally used for large and thick materials. It employs a consumable wire that acts as both the electrode and the filler material. Compared to TIG welding, it is much faster, resulting in shorter lead times and lower production costs.

What is the difference between Mig Welding and Tig Welding
The difference between the two is the way the arc is used. MIG (metal inert gas) welding uses a feed wire that constantly moves through the gun to create the spark, then melts to form the weld. TIG (tungsten inert gas) welding uses long rods to fuse two metals directly together.

M.I.G./M.A.G.S. Welding – Advantages and Disadvantages Higher welding speeds. Greater deposition rates. Less post welding cleaning (e.g. no slag to chip off weld) Better weld pool visibility. No stub end losses or wasted man hours caused by changing electrodes.

I am seeking some advice on what to coat my trunk floor with. I had to remove a 44-year old original trunk floor from a donor car to use in my car. It had some heavy surface rust underneath, but no holes after cleaning it up. The metal seems pretty thin. Nobody reproduces this trunk floor, and it took me two years to find one this decent, so i really want to prevent it from getting any thinner.
Any recommendations on a product to seal it up for the long term?

After you're done with repairing cars for a living pete, you should consider becoming a motivational speaker for youngsters and lazy bums out there.

Pete, got a question: got a quorter panel that i did weld Up but bit is crappy done. Heard that epoxy bodyfill designed for boats over the crappy welds and then scratch the fill up to put regular bodyfill to over the top of the epoxy bodyfill and so on would be a semi serious work. What is your wiew on such an situation. I Will try to weld it Up the best i can but i dont think i Will be sucessful thats why i would feel greate if i had something that can handle the moist from behind

Very informative as usual. Been watching my friend Pete since the beginning. It’s amazing how all the others get free stuff from companies but Pete paved the road for these guys and don’t take anything. Back then you couldn’t find anything on YouTube that explained it like he does! I am doing body work right now only because of what I learned from him. I do miss clown guy though Pete. Lol
