The Miata is a great driving car. Like all of the old roadsters that inspired it (Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Lotus) it is not super powerful but that's not the point.

don't see any problems on the 3rd gen mazda 3 (2014-2018) on the mazda 3 forums about the engine being 'oil burners'… just sayin…

Thanks Scotty, I was wondering what you thought of Mazda

Oil change every 3,000 miles? I own two Mazdas (a 2016 6 GT and a 2017 CX-5 Touring) and change every 5,000 (synthetic). I’m also not sure how a generalization like “They typically have weaker engines” can be made when the new SkyActiv engines are only a couple of years old and so far have proven to be rock solid. Also don’t understand the constant “their automatic transmissions are weak Jatco transmissions” when Mazda’s new transmissions were designed and built in house.

So far no regrets on either purchase. My two vehicles were made in Japan. Hard to find a Honda or Toyota still made in Japan at area dealerships.

Hey Scotty, I have a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta GL Sedan it has 185,000 miles when I go fast my car starts to overheat I already changed the thermostat, temperature sensor , and coolant. Do you think its the water pump?

Scotty, would a 2011 Chevy Equinox LT @ 81k with slight acceleration issue & hard repeated knocking at cold startup that stops after backing out of the driveway be concerning & worth $8200? Thank you for your guidance.
