I bet if I put one of the bmw engineers on a polygraph he would tell me that the torqing and loosening part is due to people not making sure the threads are clean enough for a predictable torque rating.

Same as an M62, I just put red tread locker and hit it with an M18 Milwaukee full power for about 15 seconds, 5 years later, 0 issues.
