My 1980 elco didn’t have a spare when I bought it. I don’t know if it used to and it was taken out, but one day I popped the tire and it took me a solid day to take the wheel off and bring the wheel back and forth between the tire shop. After that experience I went down to the junkyard and bought a spare for $40
