The question I get asked the most is “Where do I get all of my free wiring diagrams and service information?” Well I wish it was free! The truth is, just like any other shop I pay hundreds of dollars a month just for service information, not including OEM and aftermarket scan tool subscriptions. The good news is, DIY options and OEM short term subscriptions are available to you! Is it free? Nope…. -Enjoy!

Eric, you should make a bumper sticker with your saying "If I can do it, You can Do It". Thanks for the valuable information.

Thanks for the heads up on all this info. Long gone are the days where you could fix your car without a computer. You are the best.👍👍👍

really kinda sucks, i use to get chilton manuals and they had the wiring diagrams, now the last 3 i got dont, its really starting to get on my nerves that these companies are getting a monopoly on fixing your own car. subscription for a year is over 1,500 and its not even yours, i think this is getting to be some buuuullshit

What makes a person a professional? Its simple if you are paid to do a certain job or task you are considered a professional by definition. If you do it for free or it is a hobby and not part of you're livelihood then you're considered and amateur. So Eric, by definition you are a professional in your industry. And a darn good one too.

Ouch! Came across this video 2 months too late. I think I touched all the bases of what not to do with respect to accessing service manuals. Google Search – 3rd generation photocopies of manuals in the lower slabobian language. Yikes! Search for PDF for fee manuals. There are a bunch of online companies out there, but my experience is $30 gets you a 2nd generation photocopy of a Chilton manual borrowed from the library, and only half the manual. Keeping a close eye on my credit card receipts to ensure that no additional charges sneak in there. Tried online website Chilton DIY, which is okay. I finally asked an auto mechanic friend, who uses AllData professional who steered me in that direction. I paid a fair bit of tuition to get to a decent wiring diagram….
I think I'll try Mitchell next, just so I have a comprehensive education on this subject matter. 🙂

While I am here. I also see the OBDII diagnostic tool on your workbench. Question: Do you charge a separate line item for attaching the scanner? My (former) mechanic charges $135 to hook up the scanner to find out what the (Free) money light reads. (It wouldn't be a YouTube comment if I didn't add a biased comment – this scanner charge practice seems a bit odd. When I go to a garage, I expect to pay Parts and Labour, as well as possibly shop charges – like a BIG can of brake cleaner was used on the job. I don't expect to pay for the various equipment and tools in the garage, which I am assuming is including in the hourly Labour column. What makes the scanner unique? i.e I had to use Big Nasty, so I am charging you an extra $25 ….? Is it also not just a cost of doing business? Apologies if this is in another video…just working my way through your list in no particular order.)
