The question I get asked the most is “Where do I get all of my free wiring diagrams and service information?” Well I wish it was free! The truth is, just like any other shop I pay hundreds of dollars a month just for service information, not including OEM and aftermarket scan tool subscriptions. The good news is, DIY options and OEM short term subscriptions are available to you! Is it free? Nope…. -Enjoy!

Eric, I just ordered the DIY version of Mitchell for my ‘13 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport Turbo for $30 per year. AllData’s DIY didn’t cover my model. Thank you, thank you! Just avoiding the parts cannon will pay for the annual fee!

Nice! One other option that I follow is to try to buy the OEM service or shop manuals. I have an older Honda – I picked up a set of printed manuals off of eBay – a bit grimy but they have almost all of what I need. I found OEM manuals in PDF form for my other two cars. I found the manual on eBay for my son's Ford. Also, these are not Haynes or Chilton – they are actual service manuals. The PDF version is awesome because I can search it and I can print pages that I need. Only downside is that it won't have TSBs and sometimes they don't have pictures of connectors or the wiring diagrams are hard to find. But it's another option – it's worked for me quite well.

Clear and generous exposition, Eric O. A public service for anyone open to this advice. Admirable. Thanks!

I went on a bunch of public library's websites in my state (ca) and was surprised when I saw they were giving alldata username and passwords so you can do it at home instead. I like ProDemand but it's hard finding OE diagrams alldata is way easier to navigate and they use the same color wiring diagrams.
