Noise is removable by brake pad grease. I am a mechanic, whatever they pay me, i clean the calipers and support, apply a mercedes benz genuine brake pad paste (even if it's a crap chevy classic that seen shit, 1993 corolla or suzuki x90) and no sound will ever be heard as well as no dust is left after my cleaning. That's it.

A pad slap at our autocenter is basically if a customer doesn't wanna pay for new rotors, because they are past the manufacturer spec and cannot be machined. We've pad slapped before without warranty.

..embedded brake dust  ,, ,lolol,,im an ase master tech with L1 ,and acura master tech .Ive never herd of embedded brake dust ever ,,because its impossible ..lol  ..yes you should resurface rotors and I have never herd of a shop that would steal by saying they did a resurface but didn't ,,thats just stealing and people that do that should spend a few days in jail  ,,

I run an auto shop in California and the typical rate is 90-135 an hour, and I don't know any real shop, besides like jiffy lube and brake masters that does brakes for $140-200, usually it's about .9-1.3 hours for pads, .2 for rotors, and then $15 for resurfacing. So if you buy decent pads usually around $50 you are around $250 to $300. I also agree with the previous guy, brake dust embedded in the rotor? I think wyotech needs re-education of why you need to resurface your rotors. it causes improper wear of pads, heat, noise can occur if you use shit pads or don't apply grease properly. I've never heard of brake dust in the rotor, that's a new one to me!

Embedded brake dust? hahahaha. The reason they replace your rotor is that they are all rusty, most cannot be resurfaced. Blame your car manufacture , not the auto shop.

long story short, putting new pads on old rotors is like wiping a baby's butt and putting the soiled pamper back on the baby,i replace pads and rotors, so i have no issues, resurfacing rotors is a waste of money to turn rotors my local shop is 30$ for each one so i just have em replace all 4 pads and rotors for $770 with a one year warranty,is that a good deal??

Bullshit……I have replaced pads numerous times without machining rotors, and have never had any issues.
