This is a beginners tutorial on how your automotive (134a) air conditioning system works. Hopefully this gives beginners and diy owners an idea of how their system works and how to diagnose certain problems.

Let's talk others. Racing pulleys might not spin the pump fast enough at idle.
i have a strange situation. 2000 suburban. all my pressure gauges look good. 100 deg temps outside, low side is 55, high around 315. the high pressure side hose is hot, then after the orifice tube the low pressure side is cold (not super cold) and my air is still blowing about 70 deg out the vents. I also manually put the cool/hot blend door in the cold position just to make sure the actuator isnt stuck. any idea what to check next? i dont wanna throw parts at it, and im pretty good at diagnosing.
also the rear ac (separate controls) only blows hot but that symptom is almost alway a clogged expansion valve. ( front system uses orifice tube, rear uses expansion valve)
So do I need to add oil if all I did was pull a vacuum on it and recharge
so from what i understand with the car not running i need to open the valves on my gauges but when i get bready to start the car i need to close them is this correct
Really informative. Thanks 👍
Yo make a video on Lincoln Aviators 03 to 05 model. I got the 05. There are no books and my biggest problem been my AC. The actuator blend door is closin on driver side blowing hot air. The info you talk about was helpful. I got an understanding how the system work. Word up yo💯
